Finding Image Data, Software and Documentation
To get an overall view of the CD, locate and click the CD icon
as shown below:
The top level folder should be displayed as below:
This image is takened from our Mac using the screen capture function.
Your display window may look slightly different but the
folder structure should be the same.
As you can see,
the topmost folders are:
- Data
- Documentation
- Roadmap
- Software
Some of the folder and filenames may seem funny to you. This is
because the ISO-9660 standard has a limitation of
eight characters per filename. This makes it possible for this
CD to be read by PCs, Macs and Unix systems.
However, we try to make the filenames recognizable more or less.
For example,
the Guided Tour is located in the /ROADMAP/GUIDTOUR.HTM file.
Now, you may click the README.TXT icon for background information
on this CD or you may click the Guided Tour icon to start.
Below are descriptions of the contents of each topmost folder:
Data
The DATA folder contains images, text file descriptions of the
images, and other data. A description on
how the image data is organized
is now available.
A good way to see the images is through the
Picture Room
in the
Guided Tour.
Pre-mission images and information
is also now available. The information is a bit raw though.
Document
The DOCUMENT folder contains five lesson modules for students,
a teacher's guide and files to create overhead projector slides
for classroom presentations.
A description on
how is the documentation organized
is available.
You may also view the documentation on-line.
Start by looking at the table of contents for
lesson plans, slides and teacher guides.
Roadmap
The ROADMAP folder contains the HTML files that show you how to
get around CD. Descriptions of how the CD is organized, what software
is available and other general information is located here.
The
Guided Tour
is located in file /ROADMAP/GUIDTOUR.HTM
on the CD.
Software
The SOFTWARE folder contains the software that you will need to
view the HTML files, display images and play movies.
