Instructions for installing the Apple QuickTime Movie Player. September 24, 1996 This software requires MS-Windows 3.1. NOTE: For some reason, the installation procedure for this version copies the Quicktime files directly into the C:/WINDOWS and C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM directories. You are not given a choice as to where to store these files. Earlier versions of this application DID allow one to select another directory to install its files. We suggest you complain to Apple Computers about this. Steps for installation: 1) For quicker installation, copy the self-installing executable, QT16.EXE, from the CD into a temporary subdirectory (like C:/QUICKTIM) on your hard disk drive. 2) Make sure MS-Windows 3.1 is running. If not, start MS-Windows 3.1. 3) Through the Program Manager, choose the menu items, File | Run, and run the QT16.EXE program. 4) Follow the instructions to complete the installation. Unfortunately, Netscape 2.0 does not allow a plug-in for the Quicktime movie player. So the very first time you run a movie, you need to tell Netscape where the Quicktime executable is located. When installed correctly, this program is located in C:/WINDOWS/PLAYER.EXE.
