A slide of the NASA SAR program shows the different imaging radar instruments developed, currently operational, or under development at JPL.
The NASA/JPL Imaging Radar Program resides mainly in section 334 (Radar Science and Engineering) and in Division 32 (Earth and Space Sciences). The instruments that have been developed with connections to this group include the AIRSAR airborne imaging radar (1988 to present), the SIR missions (SIR-A 1981, SIR-B 1984 , and SIR-C/X-SAR 1994), SEASAT (1978), Magellan (mission to Venus, 1990-present), and TOPSAR (topographic airborne imaging radar, 1992 to present).
JPL is involved in the design, development, operation, management, data processing, and data analysis of various imaging radars, airborne and spaceborne, in addition to ongoing research tasks.
