Figure 8-1. SRTM, a joint project of NASA, DMA, and the German and Italian space agencies, will map the world in three dimensions. Using the SIR-C/X-SAR hardware, SRTM will produce, in a single 11- day Shuttle flight, data sufficient to produce a rectified terrain-corrected C-band mosaic of 80% of the Earth land surface at 30-meter resolution.
