What's new with Software

June 1996 :

The db-byte software manual is now on-line!

April 17, 1995 :

By accident, an incorrect version of the MLC dual pol decompression was included in the latest release mentioned below. This has now been corrected. The new version number is dcomp version 3.1 and cvert version 2.1 . If you have versions 2.0 and 3.0, please either request the new 8mm tape, or ftp for the new version . Sorry for the inconvenience.

March 28, 1995 :

A new version of the software is now available by either ftp or by 8 mm tape. The newest version numbers are : version 2.0 for CEOS_READER software, version 3.0 for dcomp software, and version 2.0 for cvert software.

New :

To get this new version of the software, contact us, and we will tell you how to go about it.

February 1995 :

The software licenses have been updated to reflect the changes made in November 1995.

Jan 9, 1995 :

Software is now available via ftp! fill out the license agreement, and we will tell you where the software is!

Jan 3, 1995 :

Flash! here is the fix to the Oct. 3 1994 bug described below, and a fix to another bug (in the undocumented program that will save as a floating point image one channel of data)

Sometimes, the info program was bombing when getting information about a scene (it did not always bomb, but often enough to be a problem). This part of the software is not critical for anything, but here is the fix...(for software tape release 1.4) (thanks to Greg Sassenrath of The Aerospace Corporation)

  1. edit the sinfo.f file in the directory for both the cvert and dcomp software
  2. change the declaration of the variables hardvers and softvers from real to character*27 (at line 46 and 47 of the file):

  3. from: to :
  4. save the changes
  5. recompile and link all the software using the make files

Here is the correction to another software bug, this for an undocumented program in the byte_image (dcomp) software...without this correction, the floating point image will come out as all zero's

  1. edit the sfloat_image.f file in the directory for the dcomp software
  2. after line 474, which should be
  3. add the following line
  4. save the changes
  5. recompile and link all the software using the make files

Oct 03, 1994 :

  • Bug: cvert and dcomp software. When reading the ascii headers for MLC data, sometimes when getting information about the scene, the program crashes. I have not yet had time to determine the cause. However, this step is not necessary to convert or decompress the data. If it crashes, skip that step (type out the ascii header files instead) , and continue...
  • sept 27, 1994 :

  • added vaxfc manual (however, this software is not currently available to non-JPL users)
  • sept 22, 1994 :

  • added Raven manual
  • added what's new with software
  • before sept 22, 1994 :

  • link to COSMIC
  • How to obtain software
  • software licences
  • software manuals for CEOS-READER software, SIR-C data decompression software, SIR-C/AIRSAR conversion software, and SIR-C Registration software.

  • There is a new tape containing the SIR-C software. This tape has the lastest versions of the dcomp software and the cvert software. The current tape should say Software Tape Release 1.4 . In addition to the lastest version of the software, this tape also contains postscript files of the manuals.

If you would like the new version of the software, please contact:
